Joint-OP/TvT med AFI och UO
OBS
- Gruppchef
- Stfchef
- Sjukvårdare
- AT-Skytt
- AT-Skytt
- Kulspruteskytt
- KulspruteASS
- Grenadjär
- Skarpskytt
- Kulspruteskytt

- Previously tested / proven scripts that create immersion (drugs, bomb making etc.)
- Kunduz lite -map tweaked by AFI map creator for stable performance
ISAF peacekeeping forces have been deployed to Kunduz Afghanistan, as part of the ongoing ISAF operation to stabilize the region. Kunduz has been the location of a violent insurgency since the beginning of the Afghan war. The region was previously occupied by British forces, who managed to drive out the Taliban during their one year stay in the region.
After the region was previously left by ISAF forces and handed to the local Afghani National Police (ANP), it did not take long for the region to de-stabilize again. The biggest cause for the unrest is a long lasting dispute between two Afghani tribes that populate the area, the Pradesh and Anbar tribes. ANP has watched from the side while the two tribes have engaged in numerous, mutual acts of harassment, destruction of property, theft and even killings.
As a direct result of the ISAF redeployment in Kunduz, numerous intel sources have reported that the Taliban has also taken interest in the region. They will most likely try to exploit the volatile situation, and disrupt all ISAF efforts to stabilize the region.
ISAF COMPOSITION & OBJECTIVES:
Composition:
ISAF forces will consist of two platoons of infantry, a multinational force consisting of swedish and american forces. They will be supported by a small air wing to provide CASEVAC and limited air observation / cover (Blackhawk miniguns, no rockets / bombs).
Additional units will be a Navy EOD team, and USAF Pararescue (PJs).
Roster can be seen and edited here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hpCqbV86gnQkpC016VNvFaIr5CdUtAnwSaYgH3cDdSU/edit?usp=sharing
Spawn location:
ISAF Forces will spawn and operate from FOB Bulldog, which is situated on the south-edge of the map. The FOB is a safe-zone, so the insurgents are not allowed to attack here. This means that ISAF doesn’t have to have guard-duty at the base. Heavily wounded and evacuated ISAF players can be treated here (medical tent), and dead players will respawn here after 20 min delay.
Assets/support:
1x UH-60 Blackhawk
1x UH-60 Medevac
10x MRAPs (4 x M2, and 6 x unarmed) divided between the two platoons.
Main Mission Objective:
ISAF forces are to stabilize the region and drive out and/or destroy the Taliban insurgents.
Goals:
- Establish communications and co-operation with the local populus. Find out what they need, and attempt to build mutual trust between the tribes and ISAF forces.
- Provide security for the local populus against the insurgents.
- Provide security for the IDAP aid workers and their humanitarian efforts.
- Capture, kill or drive out the local Taliban insurgent cell.
ISAF is expected to conduct foot/presence patrols around the region, setup and man security checkpoints along the main supply routes, as well as conduct organized military operations against known enemy positions/targets.
ISAF will have to engage the tribes in negotiations, and use the player controlled translators to help with communications. All non-ISAF/IDAP players will speak only finnish, even if they know english IRL. The tribes will have certain needs that can be fulfilled by ISAF (security), and other needs that can only be fulfilled by IDAP (humanitarian). Winning the favour of the tribes will make them support ISAF forces, give intel about the Taliban and overall help ISAF with their main objectives. Losing the favour of the villagers might result in escalating violence between the tribes, and if things turn real bad, against the ISAF forces.
All ISAF actions will have consequences: For instance, if you go into a village and automatically start to zip-tie people and search them for weapons, you can be sure that this kind of treatment doesn’t go well with the civilians. The tribes will by-default be neutral towards ISAF, but negative actions will result in hostile attitude towards the forces. ISAF should find a way to fulfill their objectives without ROE violations, while not exposing themselves too much for insurgent attacks.
Event timeline:
ISAF will slot their respective slots at the beginning of the event. Mission critical roles will be: All leadership roles, EOD members, CASEVAC pilots and Pararescue.
After slotting, ISAF will have 15-20 minutes time for mission briefing, during which time ARMA Finland will brief all their players only on the gameplay mechanics and rules for the event. After this, the game will start but there will be a 15 minute safestart timer. During this time ISAF can get to know their FOB, conduct squad / fireteam -level briefing etc. The tribes will conduct a 15 minute in-game briefing during the safestart period.
After safestart has ended the mission will officially begin, but the first 45 minutes will still be an orientation period. During this time the civilian / tribal life will be allowed to settle in, and deliberate actions of violence will be prohibited for all players. The purpose of this is to prevent players from rushing in to action at the beginning of the event, and ruining the planned events in the process.
TRIBES COMPOSITION & OBJECTIVES:
There are two tribes that inhabit this area: Pradesh tribe as well as Anbar tribe. There is a long tribal dispute between Pardesh and Anbar, with an endless cycle of revenge. They fight over land ownership, food, water and supplies amongst other things.
Assets/support:
A very limited amount of vehicles and supplies.
A very limited number of weaponry. (Perhaps 2-4 mosin-nagants for each tribe at the start of the mission?)
Objectives:
The only wish of any tribesman is to enrich his tribe. In Kunduz, this means to take those riches from your neighbouring tribe for your own tribe. While the tribes are bitter rivals with each other, they are indifferent towards all other factions. The actions of ISAF, IDAP and insurgents during the course of the mission will impact how the tribes perceive them.
Possible needs:
- Medical supplies / Doctor services
- Food and water
- Fuel and repairs
- Disarm old IED / Landmine
- Provide a generator for power supply / lights (script dependent)
- Provide portable lights (for night illumination)
- etc.
Each tribe has a tribe chieftain, with the tribe chieftain’s brother as the “2IC”. Each tribe should have three tribe elders, who the tribe chieftain can rely on to lead tribesmen.
Gameplay:
The tribe chieftain is the ultimate dictator of the tribe: Other tribemembers cannot make individual decisions with major impact, and cannot act on a sudden impulse. This means that all acts of violence and/or other illegal actions are ordered by the tribe chieftain based on the events that occur during the event, and the information that the tribe chieftain gets from his minions. This will prevent individual players from ruining the event by acting violently whenever they please. The player who slots as the tribe chieftain will be hand-picked from AFI (someone who understands these types of events). The tribe chieftains will have to pick a side during the event: Support the ISAF or the Taliban (both tribes start neutral).
INSURGENT COMPOSITION & OBJECTIVES:
Insurgents have infiltrated the Kunduz region. The nature and extent of their infiltration is unknown to all other parties, and the players will remain anonymous to everyone at the beginning of the event.
Assets/support:
Yet to be determined amount of vehicles/technicals.
Enough small arms to ambush ISAF, and/or to arm the tribes.
A limited number of IEDs. (Give Taliban the means to make them in the mission by mixing components?)
RPGs
Possibly HMGs. (1-2 Dskhms, potential threats for ISAF air assets)
Objectives:
Insurgents want to sow discord amongst the tribes. They wish to coax the tribes into open confrontation or warfare if possible, in order to destabilize the region. A major victory would be to turn one or both of the tribes against the infidel ISAF. The insurgents will strike at ISAF targets of opportunity, and they will also target IDAP aid workers for abduction and to steal IDAP supplies (which can they potentially barter with tribes for favours).
Needs/Goals:
- Identify ISAF patrol routes, location of CPs, etc.
- Insurgents need to obtain materials for the making of IEDs. Each tribe have stocks of one of the materials needed for the bomb making process.
- Gather informants and turn the tribesman into jihadists.
- Disrupt ISAF/IDAP supply routes
- Escalate the violence in the region
The insurgents by themselves cannot stand a chance against the ISAF forces. This is why they will attempt to establish communications with the tribes to either turn them against ISAF or one-another. They will also use the threat of violence, kidnappings etc. to push their means. The insurgents will attempt to provide the tribes with weapons that they can use to fight the ISAF or one-another.
ANP COMPOSITION & OBJECTIVES:
The Afghan National Police has a small section in the area to maintain order. They are highly in-effective at providing security in the region, and also quite unreliable.
Assets/support:
A few police vehicles.
Small arms weaponry.
Supplies from the Central Government.
Objectives:
The local ANP is annoyed by the presence of ISAF, as ISAF is threatening to expose a profitable side-, perfectly legitimate, business. They will have their own hidden agenda in the mission.
Gameplay:
The ANP will have some co-operation with the ISAF forces, as they are officially on the same side. By themselves, they cannot stand a chance against the insurgents, or maintain order in the region. This makes them somewhat dependent on playing by the ISAF rules, but doesn’t mean that they will play nice when ISAF is not watching. The players for ANP will be hand picked from AFI to prevent any stupid behavior.
IDAP COMPOSITION & OBJECTIVES:
IDAP has arrived in the area to provide humanitarian aid to the local tribes. As aid workers are targeted by insurgents, the IDAP aid workers must decide whether to ask for ISAF assistance/protection or attempt to deliver their supplies to the tribes on their own.
Assets/support:
Vehicles (Truck, ambulance, cars)
Humanitarian supplies
Medical supplies
Objectives:
The IDAP aid workers are in the area to provide supplies and medical attention to the tribes in the area. They must deliver all their supplies and ensure their supplies and evenly divided between the tribes. They will have a small compound near Kar Shek at the start of the mission. Further supplies have been delivered to the ISAF FOB that will need to be delivered to the compound.
Goals:
- Provide supplies to the neutral village area and the tribes.
- Provide medical attention to those who need.
- IDAP wants a ban on opiates in the region. Will be a source of strife with ANP, Tribes and ISAF.
- Provide engineering / repair services.
- Promote peace and harmony in the region.
IDAP will have an office at the outskirts of Kar Shek village, which is the neutral and commercial district in the region. IDAP will also have a place with humanitarian supplies in the ISAF FOB. They will have their primary negotiator, a medical expert and an engineer amongst their ranks. They believe in a non-violent, non-provocative approach and therefore will generally want to interact with the tribes without an ISAF escort. Only if they feel threatened, they will ask for security assistance from ISAF.
