Operation Liberté
Mission objective was to invade France. Even if it looked uncertain for a long time we managed to put our boots on French soil and claim our own territory. The Germans fought hard but the allied forces were too strong. As we took out the German artillery that bombed the beaches, our boys from the sea successfully secured the beach after sustaining massive casulties. We now gather ourselves and resupply and continue the push into france. The war has just begun and the road to Berlin is long.
4 days after the invasion
(June 10, 1944)
We are now getting ready to move out to our next objective. Weapons, ammo, vehicles and personnel are now gathered and gearing up to move further into France. We managed to push the Germans back to a foritifed position about 1 km east from our position and everything after that it is all enemy controlled territory. The main objective is “Neaville”, a town that is of importance to us and as well for the Germans. For both armies it's a merge point for all troops from Omaha and Utah beach and its in the germans best intrest to stop that from happening. Neaville is being defended by two companies from the Fallschirmjäger-Regiment. We are to attack this position and secure it. For this to be possible we need to first secure a small enemycamp at Hill 93 where the enemies have dug in. The 2nd american tank platoons are just north of our positions and will support our advancement and try to destroy the enemy Tigerplatoon that has been seen just north of the town.
Because of its importance for both us and the enemy expect them to want to recapture it if they lose it. After the town is secured we will leave the securing of the position to the Americans so we can get some well deserved rest…
